Picking the Right Tree to Plant

There are tons of options when choosing the right tree to plant however, while choosing you want to be practical. You want a tree that is going to survive the seasons while also serving a purpose. If the area you want to plant is under some power lines it would be more practical to choose a shorter tree rather than a big oak. Choose the area that you want to plant in before choosing the tree that way you can get an idea of what type of tree would be best for you to plant.

Choosing A Type of Tree

Evergreen - Evergreen trees keep their leaves all year long and are perfect to put in front of windows for privacy, or if you need wind breaks. Depending on what type you get they tend to be shorter and won't get in the way as much.

Deciduous - Deciduous trees loose their leaves during the winter and tend to grow to be very big. They need a lot of space but are good to grow on the south, east, and west sides of your home to provide shade in the summer and warmth in the winter.

Choosing the Right Tree

Once you decide on which type of tree you want it's time to go to the store and select a tree of that type. You want to make sure that the tree you are picking is healthy otherwise it won't survive in the environtment you are about to put it in. Before you buy the tree check to make sure it is in good condition. Look at the leaves to make sure they aren't drooping and are green and healthy. Look at the bark and make sure there aren't any fungus and make sure it isn't damaged in any way. Also make sure the roots look healthy and that they aren't bent in any way that would possibly hurt the tree in the future.
